I have spent 20 years as a catalyst for, and leader of, organisational transformation, working as a management consultant and educator. I have a range of organisational change leadership competencies, across multiple industries and many territories. Working with people in organisations, I seek to understand what lies behind the desire for change: below the apparently rational needs, behind the explicit reasoning.
Organisational analysis normally focuses on the links between technical systems/technology and the managerial and organisational processes and structures. Additionally, I look for insights on the conscious and unconscious life of the organisation. It is in understanding how people interact with each other and the organisational systems that brings the insight needed to create effective transformation.
In order to provide a safe enough space for transformation to happen I manage the uncertainty and anxiety generated during change. This creates safe places from where co-creation of transformative action can be generated. These places of separation from the day-to-day hurly-burly of organisations allows people to better answer questions about how things are in the ‘here and now’ and how they desire them to be in the future. Then we can set about transformation to achieve the desired future together.
